Our Story

Founded on December 4, 1999, the Southern Philippines Institute of Science and Technology (SPIST) was born from the collaborative efforts of experienced professionals who shared a common vision: to provide quality, affordable, and accessible education in Cavite. Located at Tia Maria Building, Aguinaldo Highway, Anabu 2A, Imus, Cavite, SPIST has grown from humble beginnings into one of the region's most respected educational institutions.

Our Founders

The founders of SPIST were experienced professionals from diverse fields: a former school director, a teacher with extensive experience in both public and private schools, an Industrial Education graduate with IT expertise, a licensed Chemical Engineer turned educator, and a business entrepreneur who provided crucial financial support. This unique combination of expertise and dedication laid the foundation for excellence.

After months of brainstorming, documentation, and overcoming numerous challenges, SPIST officially opened its doors in June 2000 with an initial enrollment of 285 students. The institution began with twelve (12) bachelor programs under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and five (5) technical programs under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The Board of Trustees was formed with a commitment to pursue excellence and develop the innate multiple intelligences of young individuals, preparing them to become productive and useful members of society. The school continuously adopts the latest trends in technology, ensuring students remain competitive in this fast-changing world.

Today, SPIST operates two campuses: the main Anabu campus (since 1999) and the Carsadang Bago campus (established 2023), serving thousands of students across Cavite and beyond.

Our Philosophy

Southern Philippines Institute of Science & Technology (SPIST) is committed to provide an education that will lead the student to learn and to experience his dignity as a human being and to arrive at a goal for which God has created him. Through its various courses, extra & co-curriculum activities, and work immersion, avenues are opened for the formulation of socially-desirable values and attitude, acquisition of knowledge and development of skills, as well as enrichment of potentials and capabilities. These will enable the young citizen to be molded into one who is ready to face, accept, appreciate, exercise and fulfill his role for a continuous development.

Symbolism & Meaning

The Seal of the school imposes the ideals for which the school was founded: Love for country and sanctity in education for the attainment of life's goal - for God's Greater Honor and Glory.

Surrounding the eagle symbolizes honors and successes received from having studied in this institution.

The Eagle

With its wings spread wide-open stands for welcoming arms, ready to be a part of others in a closely-knit family. The eagle represents high ideals, fortitude and strength to survive even the toughest environment.

The Disk & Year 1999

At the foot of the eagle is a disk symbolizing technology, and the year 1999 stands for the founding year of the institution.

The Circle

These elements are enclosed in a circle which implies that the ideals of SPIST are embodied in every student for him to serve God, country and fellowmen.

December 4, 1999

The Foundation

SPIST was born at Tia Maria Building, Aguinaldo Highway, Anabu 2A, Imus, Cavite. After months of brainstorming, documentation, and collaboration by experienced professionals, the institution was officially established.

June 2000

Opening Day

SPIST officially opened its doors with 285 initial enrollees. The institution launched with twelve (12) bachelor programs under CHED and five (5) technical programs under TESDA, proving that education is essential in every Filipino's life.

Early 2000s

Board of Trustees Formation

The Board of Trustees was formed, committed to pursuing excellence and developing the innate multiple intelligences of young individuals to become productive members of society.

2000s - 2020s

Continuous Growth

SPIST adopted the latest trends in technology to make students more competent in the fast-changing world. The institution steadily grew its programs, facilities, and student enrollment while maintaining its commitment to quality education.

2023

Carsadang Bago Campus Opens

SPIST expanded its reach with the establishment of the Carsadang Bago Branch, extending quality education to more communities across Cavite.
